Pinus sylvestris in a Grey Pot – Miniature Bonsai Collection

With our native Scots Pine, a very large, tall, evergreen conifer with a mature rounded crown immediately springs to mind. However, it is also the perfect tree to grow as a miniature bonsai specimen!

This specimen has been carefully sculpted by our very own Andrii Marynch. It is a 4 year old bonsai, presented in this grey glazed rectangular pot topped with mixed grit that helps retain the moisture in the soil. It also has the addition of some rusted nails jutting out of the soil – an unusual decorative feature but it does have a purpose, as the rusty nails help add iron to the soil that keeps the pH at the right acidity to keep this Pine looking its best. Perfectly hardy for keeping outdoors, it will make a stunning feature piece for displaying in the garden.
