Description
Juniperus communis, or Common Juniper, is a native evergreen conifer with grey-green spikey needles that is prickly to touch. Junipers are very popular trees to bonsai due to the flexibility of their branches which makes them easier to train and shape. This specimen, aged currently at 7 years, has a strong mature trunk that has been shaped with gentle curves in the main trunk to add interest to its overall shape. The ‘Jin’ technique has also been used, where a branch is carefully stripped of its bark, exposing the hardwood beneath and creating the characteristic look of ‘deadwood’.
Andrii, who has been working with us here on the Nursery for the last 2 years, has been developing his skills in bonsai techniques for over 18 years, creating these beautiful specimen pieces that we have here in our Mini Bonsai Collection.
