Description
This stunning piece is an 18 year old miniature bonsai of Carpinus betulus, commonly known as Hornbeam. It has been grown as a Formal Upright Style Bonsai, in a technique known as Chokkan. With this technique you can see a single upright main trunk, that is wider at the base and tapers inwards as it ascends. This style mimics the natural way that a tree would grow in an open space, where there is no issue with competing trees. This miniature bonsai specimen will still have all the characteristics of a naturally grown Hornbeam – with lush green foliage from late spring through summer, turning bright yellow in the autumn. Leaves will turn brown in the winter, and some will remain on the tree into spring.
Andrii, who has been working with us here on the Nursery for the last 2 years, has been developing his skills in bonsai techniques for over 18 years, creating these beautiful specimen pieces that we have here in our Mini Bonsai Collection.
