Description

Physocarpus ‘diabolo’ is a striking shrub with its deep purple foliage and its Spring blooms of pink flowers produced in dense clusters giving way to red fruit. During the winter the bark peels in strips to reveal the reddish brown inner bark. A welcome addition for local birds and pollinators. In this multistem form it makes a beautiful specimen tree for a courtyard garden, patio or as a feature in a bed.

For the best coloured foliage plant in the full sun, tolerates a wide range of soil types including clay as long as they are well drained.

Can be pruned to maintain shape, This should be done after flowering and no later than mid August
