Description
‘Regal Prince’ originates from a cross between Quercus robur Fastigiata and Quercus bicolor. It has a dense, columnar crown, with branches growing vertically in a closed upright form. Compared to other Quercus forms, it has a high resistance towards mildew and, once established, can tolerate exposure to strong winds and drier soil conditions. Its glossy leaves are dark green, with a lighter underside that is almost silver in colour. In autumn, leaves turn amber-yellow to brown before falling for the winter. It grows to an ultimate height of 8-12m with a more restricted spread of about 4m.
