Description

Calm, classic, and beautifully fragrant, Lavandula angustifolia ‘Alba’ brings a soft, clean look to the garden with elegant white flower spikes held above silvery-green foliage. It’s perfect for creating a lighter planting palette — especially alongside whites, greens, blush pinks and soft blues — and it’s a wonderful plant for bees all summer long.
Plant it in full sun with free-draining soil and it will reward you with scent, structure, and that timeless Mediterranean feel, even in an Irish garden.

Caragh Garden Notebook

White lavender has a different kind of magic — it’s softer, calmer, and it makes the whole planting scheme feel more considered.
‘Alba’ is one of our favourites for path edges and pots near the house, where you’ll brush past it and catch that unmistakable lavender scent. It’s also gorgeous in evening light, glowing gently against darker greens and deep purples.
Caragh tip: Prune after flowering to keep it neat and long-lived — a tidy trim is perfect, but avoid cutting back into old woody stems.
