Caragh Garden Notebook

Planting:
Plant in spring or autumn in well-prepared, well-drained soil. It will settle in best where it has room to form a healthy clump and enough space to show off its flowers.

Watering:
Water well after planting and keep it hydrated through the first season. Once established, it is fairly easy to care for, but will appreciate regular watering during dry spells.

Feeding:
A mulch of compost in spring will help keep growth strong and blooming generous.

Seasonal Care & Tidy-Up:
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms and keep the plant looking fresh. Cut back old growth in late autumn or early spring.

Division:
Divide clumps every few years in spring or autumn if they become congested, to keep the plant vigorous.

Pests & Problems:
Generally trouble-free, making it a reliable and rewarding addition to the garden.

Design Notes:
Perfect for cottage gardens, mixed borders, and softer naturalistic schemes. It works beautifully with plants such as salvias, geraniums, nepeta, and hardy grasses, where its sunny flowers can weave through the planting and lift the whole display.
