Description
Good soil is the foundation of everything in a garden. Without it, plants struggle, lawns thin out, and no amount of feeding or watering will make up the difference. Screened topsoil removes the guesswork — it arrives clean, workable, and ready to use.
The screening process removes stones, roots, and coarse debris, leaving a consistent, fine-textured soil that’s easy to spread, level, and work with. Whether you’re preparing the ground for a new lawn, building up raised beds, filling low spots, or refreshing tired borders, screened topsoil gives you a proper base to start from.
It’s the kind of product that does its job quietly — lay it right and you’ll barely think about it again. But skip it, and you’ll notice.
Caragh Garden Notebook
For new lawns, aim for a minimum 100–150mm depth of topsoil before seeding or laying turf — the deeper the better for root development. For borders and raised beds, mix with compost to improve drainage and nutrient content. Allow freshly placed topsoil to settle before seeding or planting, and water in well after application. If you’re topping up an existing lawn, apply in thin layers of no more than 10–15mm at a time to avoid smothering the existing grass.
