Description
Dryopteris wallichiana is a brilliant fern for bringing structure and calm to shadier parts of the garden. It forms a handsome, upright clump of arching fronds with a slightly glossy finish and warm, golden-brown stems — giving it a richer, more “designed” look than many softer woodland ferns.
It’s ideal for underplanting trees and shrubs, filling borders in dappled shade, or adding texture alongside hostas, hellebores and spring bulbs. Once established, it’s a reliable, low-fuss perennial that comes back stronger each year.
