Phellodendron Amurense specimen multistem

Description

Also known as the Amur Cork Tree, Phellodendron Amurense originally comes from the north-east of Asia where it grew in the basin of the river Amur, from which it takes its name. It grows quickly and spreads out from the trunk with heavy lateral branches, and the bark is thick and corky with deep grooves. The young twigs are thick and yellowish-brown and older twigs develop a layer of cork. The glossy, green leaves give off an aromatic scent when rubbed. The autumnal colour is yellow and the leaves fall early in the season. The greenish-yellow flower plumes are followed by fleshy berries that turn from reddish-black to black and remain hanging in the tree the entire winter.
