Description
Where the Gold Atlas makes a statement, the Sydney holds the space. Clean-lined, confidently proportioned, and built to the same exacting standard as every aluminium planter we offer, the Sydney is the planter that lets your planting do the talking.
Its round form is quietly timeless. Neither trend-led nor conservative, the Sydney sits with equal ease in a contemporary courtyard, a classic walled garden, or a relaxed informal terrace. Available in a range of colours and sizes, it is the kind of planter you return to again and again — for entrances, terraces, boundary plantings, and everything in between.
Crafted from 3mm aluminium, finished with a powder-coated primer and coloured top coat, and raised on integrated 15mm feet, it is a planter engineered to perform outdoors year after year without fuss or compromise.

Planting: The Sydney’s clean, round form works across a broad range of planting styles — equally suited to clipped topiary, ornamental grasses, specimen shrubs, and architectural trees. Use a quality loam-based compost and keep drainage clear. The integrated feet promote airflow and drainage at the base, protecting both the planter and the surface beneath.
Material: Aluminium is the material of choice for a serious outdoor planter — genuinely lightweight despite its strength, naturally corrosion-resistant, and completely unfazed by Irish weather conditions year-round. Unlike steel it will not rust; unlike fibreglass it carries a natural rigidity and substance that feels exceptional underfoot and to the touch.
Finish: Once constructed, every Sydney planter is powder coated with a strong adhesive primer and finished with a durable coloured top coat — a process that ensures long-lasting colour and a finish that holds its appearance through rain, frost, and full sun exposure.
Standard & Custom Thickness: 3mm aluminium is the standard specification, robust across the full size range. For very large planters or commercial applications requiring additional rigidity, 4–5mm thickness is available on request.
Wheels: Optional wheels can be added at the time of order — a practical addition for larger sizes that may need to be repositioned throughout the season. Mention this when placing your order.
Colour & Size Options: The Sydney is available in a range of colours and sizes beyond those shown. If you are looking for a specific size, colour, or finish to suit a particular project, our team are happy to assist. Contact us on 045 879 170 or at info@caraghnurseries.ie — production lead time is up to four weeks.
Cleaning & Care: Wipe down periodically with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. The powder-coated finish is durable and low maintenance. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or solvents that may scratch or affect the surface.
Styling Notes: The Sydney’s versatility is its greatest quality. A single large Sydney planted with a specimen tree anchors a terrace with quiet authority; a pair flanking an entrance creates balance and structure. In multiples — along a pathway, across a rooftop garden, or at intervals along a boundary — it creates strong rhythm without visual noise. Combine with the Gold Atlas Planter for contrast and drama, or pair with the Napoli or Acer for a cohesive mixed-material planting display.
