Description

Clean, simple, and built to last — our round topped garden edging is the straightforward solution for defining borders, separating lawn from beds, and giving any outdoor space a neat, finished appearance. The round topped profile adds a subtle, considered detail that sets it apart from standard flat-topped edging, softening the line at ground level without losing any of the clean definition that makes good edging so effective.

At 150mm deep and 50mm thick, it sits firmly in the ground and holds its position under pressure from adjacent soil and planting. Manufactured in our on-site timber workshop from pressure treated timber, it is built to perform in the ground and handle the year-round conditions of a British or Irish garden without issue. Whether you are edging a lawn, lining a path, defining a raised bed, or separating materials in a landscaping scheme, this is a product that does its job quietly and reliably for years.

Installation:
Mark out the edge line clearly before starting — a garden hose or string line works well for curves and straight runs respectively. Dig a narrow trench to the required depth, allowing approximately 50mm of the board to sit above ground level for a clean, visible edge. Drive boards firmly into the ground using a rubber mallet, working along the line and checking regularly for level. For curves, make shallow vertical cuts along the back face of the board to allow it to flex to the required radius without splitting.

Fixing & Joining:
For longer runs, boards can be butted end to end and secured with timber pegs driven behind the edging at regular intervals — approximately every 900mm — to hold the line firmly in place. Ensure pegs are treated timber to match the edging boards. Pre-drill fixing points to avoid splitting, particularly at board ends.

Maintenance:
Round topped garden edging requires minimal maintenance beyond the annual treatment. Check fixing pegs periodically and re-drive any that have loosened over winter. Re-level any boards that have shifted after ground movement in cold or wet weather. A sharp spade run along the outer edge of the board once or twice a year keeps the lawn or border line clean and well-defined.

Design Notes:
Good edging is the detail that ties a garden together — it sharpens borders, defines spaces, and gives the overall scheme a finished, intentional quality that makes a real difference to how the garden looks and feels. The round topped profile suits both traditional and contemporary gardens, working equally well alongside formal clipped planting and relaxed naturalistic borders. Use to edge lawn borders and paths, to define gravel or bark areas, to frame raised beds, or to separate different materials in a mixed landscaping scheme. For a clean, long-lasting edge that installs quickly and performs reliably, this is a practical and well-made choice.
