Every year, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show brings fresh inspiration for gardeners, designers and plant lovers alike. But after visiting Chelsea on Wednesday with Ian and Ella, it was the planting schemes — rather than the showmanship — that stayed with us most this year.
The gardens that really stood out were the ones that felt natural, layered and achievable for real gardens at home. Two in particular kept coming up in conversation afterwards: the Killik & Co garden and the Trussell’s Together Garden. Both showcased plants in a way that felt relaxed, immersive and beautifully connected to nature.
For us at Caragh Nurseries, Chelsea 2026 reinforced something we’ve always believed — great gardens start with great planting.
Naturalistic Planting Inspiration from the Killik & Co Garden
The Killik & Co ‘A Seed in Time’ garden by Baz Grainger was one of the most calming spaces at Chelsea this year. The planting had a soft, meadow-inspired quality, combining ornamental grasses with woodland and wetland perennials to create movement, texture and a real sense of maturity.
What made the garden work so beautifully was the layering of plants. Taller grasses drifted through softer flowering perennials, while muted shades of purple, cream and deep burgundy gave the entire space a cohesive feel.
Some of the standout plants that we also have on the nursery are:

These kinds of naturalistic planting combinations are becoming increasingly popular in Irish gardens too, particularly for gardeners looking to create pollinator-friendly spaces with year-round interest.
At Caragh Nurseries, we grow many of the grasses and perennial varieties that help recreate this softer Chelsea-inspired look at home.
Bold Perennials and Texture in the Trussell’s Together Garden
The Trussell’s Together Garden offered a different style of planting, using stronger contrasts, structural perennials and rich foliage tones to create impact while still feeling relaxed and natural.
The success of this garden came from the balance between bold structure and loose planting. Nothing felt overly formal or forced — the combinations felt generous, natural and full of life.
Other standout plants from this garden that are available at Caragh are:

These are planting styles we love here in Ireland too, especially in gardens that aim to blend seasonal colour with biodiversity and texture.
Bringing Chelsea-Inspired Planting Home
Chelsea always leaves us inspired, and this year was no different. Many of the standout plants and planting combinations featured throughout the show are already part of what we grow here at Caragh Nurseries, making these ideas achievable for Irish gardens of all sizes.
If you’re looking to bring a little Chelsea inspiration into your own garden this season, think layered planting, movement, pollinator-friendly varieties and combinations that work naturally with the landscape.
Because often, it’s not one single plant that makes a garden memorable — it’s how they all work together.
