Shop Our Rootball TreesWhat is a Rootball Tree?
A rootball tree is one that has spent its life growing in the ground — not in a container, but in open soil, developing a deep and established root system at its own pace.
It’s one of the most reliable ways to introduce a sizeable, established tree into your garden.
Why choose our Rootballed Trees?
Grown here, lifted here, delivered here
Every rootball tree from Caragh Nurseries has spent its life in our own fields. It's one of the quieter things we're proud of: a genuinely smaller footprint, rooted in honest, local growing.
Structure from day one
Years of field growing produce a maturity you can't rush. For privacy, screening or a finished look, a rootball tree makes a garden feel like it has always been there.
Ready to settle in
Lifted with their surrounding soil intact, rootball trees arrive already at home. There's less transplant shock, so they establish faster and begin contributing to your garden sooner than you'd expect.
A World of Choice
Whatever your garden needs, whether structure, shelter, seasonal colour, or something purely beautiful, there's a rootball variety grown and ready for it.
When to plant and how we get them to you
Rootball trees are field-grown, which means they have a natural planting season. In Ireland, that window runs from October through to March, the period when the tree is dormant and can be lifted and moved without stress. It’s a rhythm that’s been followed by growers for generations, and for good reason.
We’ve been doing this a long time. We know what these trees need in transit, and we take that responsibility seriously.
