Description
Photinia are evergreen shrubs of East Asian origin. Photinia serr. ‘Crunchy’ is a species with serrated leaves, with a stronger growth than the fraseri. Its a great option if you want to grow into a small tree as Crunchy is less susceptible to powdery mildew.
Crunchy is a recent selection, with young coppery leaves becoming chocolate brown then dark green in summer. Flowering takes place in spring, in large corymbs of white melliferous flowers, followed by small bright pink berries.
These ones have taken advantage of those strong lower branches to create a parachute style shape, highly ornamental with the Crunchy foliage.
