Hosta ‘Gold Standard’

9.50

Description

Hosta are among the most popular of perennials for shady areas, with hundreds of varieties now readily available. Plants form a sturdy mound of foliage.   This mid-sized selection has chartreuse leaves in spring, changing to creamy-yellow with a deep green margin.   Lavender flowers appear in July. Best in morning sun. Suitable also for planting in mixed containers or tubs.

Hosta go completely dormant in the Autumn, and the remaining foliage can be removed any time before mid spring. Keep slugs and snails away from Hostas by whatever means you prefer, my personal choice is covering the soil with coffee grinds, not only do the slugs not like going over the gritty texture but the grinds act as a fertiliser to the soil and thus plant.
