Description
Horizontal Lattice Top Panels are the perfect balance between privacy and openness – solid enough to screen unwanted views, open enough to let light and air flow through. With their distinctive horizontal lattice detailing and robust vertical board construction, these panels bring contemporary style and practical function to boundaries, dividers, and screening projects.
The design is simple but effective – a solid lower section provides complete privacy where it matters most, while the horizontal lattice top softens the boundary, filters wind, and creates visual interest. This combination delivers security and seclusion without the oppressive feel of solid fencing, making gardens feel more spacious and welcoming.
The horizontal lattice pattern is what gives these panels their modern edge. The clean horizontal lines create a contemporary aesthetic that complements modern garden design beautifully. The lattice filters wind rather than blocking it, reducing pressure on the fence structure and making these panels ideal for exposed sites where solid panels might struggle.
Light plays through the lattice top, casting attractive shadows and creating a sense of depth. The open framework allows glimpses of planting beyond – enough to intrigue without compromising privacy – and provides excellent support for climbing plants if you want to soften the boundary further.
At 180cm wide and available in three heights, the panels offer flexibility for different situations. The 120cm height works well for low boundaries, garden dividers, or areas where you want to maintain views. The 150cm and 180cm panels provide substantial screening for perimeter fencing, patio privacy, or blocking unsightly views while keeping the space feeling open and airy.
The pressure-treated timber ensures durability and rot resistance, making this a long-term investment that will stand up to the weather year after year. The robust slatted board construction is built to last, while the lattice top adds strength through its framework design.
Whether you’re creating a contemporary boundary, screening a seating area, dividing garden rooms, or simply upgrading tired fencing, Horizontal Lattice Top Panels deliver style, privacy, and practicality in one elegant package.
This is fencing for gardeners who want privacy without compromise – structure with style, seclusion with light.

Installing & Maintaining Your Horizontal Lattice Top Panels
Installation
Pair with planed and ribbed posts or planed and ribbed ‘H’ posts.
Plan your fence line carefully, marking post positions at 180cm intervals (matching panel width). Posts should be 70mm x 70mm minimum and set at least 60cm into the ground – deeper in exposed sites or soft soil.
Use concrete for maximum stability. Dig post holes 60-75cm deep and 30cm square. Position the post, check it’s vertical using a spirit level, then fill with concrete. Brace posts while concrete sets (24-48 hours). Alternatively, use metal post spikes driven into firm ground – quicker but less stable in exposed locations.
Once posts are secure and set, position the first panel between posts. The bottom of the panel should sit 5-10cm above ground level to prevent rot – use gravel boards or offcuts as spacers during installation. Check the panel is level, then fix to posts using galvanised screws or nails. Pre-drill screw holes to prevent splitting.
Work along the fence line, installing posts and panels alternately. Ensure each panel is level before fixing – adjustments are difficult once secured. For corners, cut posts at 45 degrees or use corner posts to join panels at right angles.
Handle panels carefully – the lattice top is robust but can be damaged if dropped or forced. Work with a helper for easier, safer installation.
If using existing posts which previously supported imperial 183cm panels a pair of panel extension strips will be required.
Finishing
The pressure-treated timber can be left untreated to weather naturally to silver-grey, or finished with exterior wood stain, paint, or preservative for colour and additional protection.
If finishing, apply treatment before installation for easier coverage and better results. Use products suitable for pressure-treated timber. Apply two coats, allowing adequate drying time between applications. Avoid treating in wet, freezing, or very hot conditions.
Maintenance
Inspect annually for loose fixings, damaged boards, or signs of rot. Tighten screws, replace damaged components, and treat any exposed timber promptly.
Check posts remain vertical and secure – wind pressure and ground movement can shift posts over time. Re-firm or re-concrete posts if necessary.
If painted or stained, refresh the finish every 2-3 years to maintain appearance and protection. Clean panels with a stiff brush and soapy water before recoating to remove dirt, algae, and mildew.
Clear vegetation and debris from the base of panels – good airflow around the timber prevents moisture build-up and extends panel life.
Trim climbing plants regularly if grown through the lattice top. Excessive weight can strain the framework and fixings.
Our Horizontal Lattice Top Panels combine contemporary design with practical performance. Whether you’re creating a modern boundary, screening for privacy, or dividing garden spaces, these panels deliver the perfect balance of seclusion and openness. With three heights to choose from and a distinctive horizontal lattice design, they’re fencing that works hard and looks great – ideal for gardeners who value both style and substance.
