Description

Heuchera ‘Silverberry’ is a gorgeous high-contrast heuchera, with silvery foliage and dark veining that looks crisp and “designed” from the moment it’s planted. In summer it really earns its name, sending up bright pink flower stems that hover above the leaves and bring a cheerful pop of colour. It’s brilliant for pots and borders where you want light, texture, and a little bit of sparkle.

Caragh Garden Notebook

Planting:
Plant in spring or autumn into well-prepared soil, or pot into a quality peat-free compost with good drainage. Keep the crown at soil level — don’t bury it too deeply. Water well to settle in.
Watering:
Water regularly in the first season and during dry spells, especially in containers. Keep moisture consistent for the best foliage and strongest flowering.
Feeding:
A spring mulch and a light feed (or slow-release feed in pots) is usually plenty. Refresh the compost surface in containers each spring to keep plants thriving.
Seasonal Care & Tidy-Up:
Remove tired leaves as needed. In late winter/early spring, tidy away older foliage so the new growth comes through cleanly.
Division (to keep plants vigorous):
Every 3–4 years, lift and divide in spring or early autumn if the clump becomes woody or starts to lift.
Pests & Problems:
Generally easy. Watch for vine weevil in pots and occasional slug/snail damage on young leaves.
Design Notes:
‘Silverberry’ is fantastic with dark foliage, deep greens, whites, and ornamental grasses. Use it to brighten part shade, to add a silvery note to containers, or to create a crisp contrast thread through a border. The pink flowers also make it a lovely choice for pollinator-friendly planting.
