Description
Also known as Russian Olive and (and I really love this name) Bohemian Oleaster
It grows loosely and has an open crown shape that can grow quite wide. The twigs turn from a silvery grey to reddish brown colour. The velvety underside is a striking silvery white colour. The bell-shaped flowers, approx. 1 cm in size, sometimes grow in clusters of 2 to 3 together. They have a strong aroma and are followed by olive-shaped, yellow drupes. They are edible and taste slightly sweet. Prefers a light and sunny, dry site. Happily takes both pollution and salt air.
These trees are standard with a 2m (6-7ft) clear stem and then a foliage head which sits above that, measuring up to about 3-3.5m.
