Description
If you’re after height, elegance, and that crisp “garden-at-its-best” feeling, Delphinium ‘Pure White’ is a classic. Tall, stately spires of pure white flowers rise above deeply cut green foliage, bringing structure and a calm brightness to summer borders. It’s the perfect plant for adding vertical lift behind roses, peonies, and softer cottage-garden favourites—especially in the evening light, when white flowers seem to glow.

How to plant & care (Caragh Garden Notebook)
- Planting: Choose a sheltered spot if possible—delphiniums don’t love strong winds. Enrich the soil with compost before planting.
- Watering: Keep evenly moist while establishing; water during dry spells in summer.
- Feeding: A spring feed and a mid-season top-up will support tall, strong stems and better flowering.
- Support: Stake early (before it flops). A discreet ring support works brilliantly.
- After flowering: Cut the main flower spike back to encourage a second flush later in the season.
Styling tip
Pair Delphinium ‘Pure White’ with roses, foxgloves, nepeta, salvias, lady’s mantle (Alchemilla mollis), and ornamental grasses for that romantic, layered summer border.
