Description
Cordyline ‘Red Star’ is a hardy and resilient evergreen shrub/tropical looking plant that makes a fantastic focal point throughout the year, eventually growing tall, woody stems topped with deep red palm-like leaves. The deep red colouring remains consistent throughout the year, providing an exotic feel to the garden whatever the season.
A popular choice in seaside gardens, Cordyline Red Star copes well with coastal conditions as well as exposed sites. Its narrow footing means you can easily grow it in borders and underplant it with flowers or other foliage plants. It can get larger over time though growing to an eventual 3metres tall with a 2metre spread. Mature plants produce branches of sweet-smelling, ivory-white flowers in summer, which are extremely attractive to bees and its autumn berries are loved by birds making it a great addition to the garden.
