Description

Acer palm. ‘Kogane Nishiki’ is a special and unusual variety of Japanese Maple. As leaves start to emerge in the spring, they have very distinct bright yellow tips, which then mature to green as the leaves unfurl. The green colour gets richer over the summer months, and in autumn the tree lights up with a stunning display of bright, golden yellow to orange. This is where this variety gets its name, ‘Kogane Nishiki’ – which means ‘Golden Brocade’. It is a compact tree with a maximum height and spread of 3-4m. It will grow best in dappled shade in a sheltered site protected from harsh winds, but it can also tolerate some full sun.
