Description
This larger salvia is also known as Mexican purple sage. It has lavender-violet flowers in late autumn and early winter. It is a larger and looser, with arching stems to 1.5 metre, making a lovely hazy background display if there is plenty of room for it. It is very similar in form to Salvia iodantha, and flowers around the same time. Nearby shrubs can help support this rather loose floppy plant or alternatively use a plant support. It should be cut back almost to the ground in late winter. It can grow in partial shade.
