Description
A clean, washed coarse sand specifically graded for paving applications. Larger grained than mortar sand, it compacts well, drains freely, and gives a stable, level laying course for block paving, patio slabs, and flags. It’s also used to fill and bind joints between paving blocks once they’re laid — brushed in dry to lock everything in place. A core product for any paving or landscaping project done properly.
Quick Facts
Type: Washed coarse paving sand
Grain Size: Large grain, mechanically graded
Colour: Natural sand
Silt Content: Low
Source: Limestone-rich deposit
Perfect For:
Block paving: Laying course beneath concrete and clay block paving
Patio slabs and flags: Bedding layer for natural stone, porcelain, and concrete slabs
Joint filling: Brushed dry into joints between paving blocks to lock and stabilise
Path and driveway construction: Stable, compatible base layer for surface courses
General landscaping: Anywhere a clean, coarse-grained sand is needed for drainage or bedding
How To Use
As a laying course: Spread paving sand 30–50mm deep over a compacted sub-base and screed to the required level and fall. Lay paving units directly onto the screeded surface. Do not compact or wet the sand before laying.
As a jointing sand: Once paving is laid and compacted, brush dry paving sand across the surface and into the joints. Compact again and repeat until joints are full. Remove any excess from the surface.
