Why you’ll love it
Heuchera ‘Cranberry’ is colour you can rely on — not just for a few weeks, but for most of the year. The leaves are a deep, juicy red that instantly warms up planting, especially in winter and early spring when gardens can feel a bit flat.
It’s brilliant in pots (where you can enjoy the foliage up close), and it weaves beautifully through borders as a rich, grounding note alongside grasses, salvias, roses, and spring bulbs. When it flowers, you get delicate stems of tiny blooms that add a soft, airy layer above the foliage.
Caragh Garden Notebook (our growing tips)
Heucheras like moist, well-drained soil and do best when they’re not sitting wet in winter. Improve the planting area with compost, and water during dry spells in the first season.
For the best foliage, remove any tired leaves as needed and give plants a little tidy in early spring. In pots, keep watering steady through summer and make sure the container drains freely. A light mulch in spring helps keep roots cool and happy.
