Description

Meet Euphorbia ‘Silver Edge’ – a stunning architectural beauty that brings year-round elegance to Irish gardens with its distinctive silver-margined leaves and cheerful lime-green flowers. This remarkable evergreen shrub is perfectly suited to our changeable climate, offering both drought tolerance and winter hardiness.
The silvery edges of each blue-green leaf catch the light beautifully, creating a shimmering effect that’s particularly striking in morning dew or evening light. From late spring through early autumn, clusters of bright chartreuse flowers crown each stem, creating a spectacular display that attracts beneficial insects whilst adding vibrant colour to your garden palette.
What makes this Euphorbia particularly special for Irish gardeners is its adaptability – thriving in both coastal and inland conditions, it’s equally at home in a contemporary Dublin courtyard or a traditional Cork cottage garden. The compact, mounding habit makes it perfect for borders, containers, or as a striking specimen plant.

Caragh Garden Notebook

“Euphorbia ‘Silver Edge’ is one of those plants that truly earns its place in the garden – beautiful, reliable, and wonderfully low-maintenance. I love using it in our Mediterranean-inspired plantings here at the nursery, where it pairs beautifully with lavender and ornamental grasses.
For Irish gardens, plant it in a sunny, well-drained spot – it’s surprisingly tolerant of our wet winters as long as the drainage is good. The silver foliage provides wonderful contrast against darker plants, and the lime-green flowers are absolutely magical when backlit by evening sun.
A light prune after flowering will maintain its shape.
