Description
Wisteria sinensis ‘Amethyst’ (syn ‘Caroline’) is a variety of Chinese Wisteria that grows vigorously, up to 7-8m high with stems twining anticlockwise. It flowers in late spring/early summer with abundant, highly fragrant red-flushed violet-blue flowers in dense, hanging racemes approximately 25-30cm long, which are very attractive for bees. Blooms are often followed by bean-like seed pods. A robust deciduous climber that requires strong trellising or other support system.
