Platanus acerifolia / London Plane Specimen Tree

Although not native, Platanus acerifolia is a common sight throughout the towns and cities of Ireland, most commonly because it isn’t a fussy tree, responding well to pollution and coastal air that lots of other trees wouldn’t thrive in. It is a large, impressive tree often growing up to 30m in height. The most identifying feature is the grey bark which sheds in large plates leaving patches of pale green and creamy yellow fresh wood underneath.  This specimen is a really impressive size grown in an airpot with a clear stem to 2.4metres with a 55-60cm girth and an overall height of 8-10metres tall and available to view in our Nursery Park.
