Description
Luzula sylvatica, also known as Great Wood-Rush, is a native, clump-forming grass commonly found along streams and river banks, as well as in damp woodland areas. Its flat green leaves are mostly evergreen, and are edged with soft hairs. In late spring to early summer, delicate panicles of tiny brown flowers emerge above the foliage, and are almost shimmery in appearance when the light hits them. It is a very suitable suitable plant for damp areas and for shady woodland underplanting. It can reach a height of up to 80cm when the flowers are present, but otherwise the foliage sits at about 30-40cm.
