Every great garden starts the same way: with strong roots and the right foundations. At Caragh Nurseries in Co. Kildare, we’ve spent years growing trees, shrubs and plants at scale — and learning, season after season, what actually helps plants thrive in real Irish conditions.
This is the multi-purpose compost we trust on our own nursery. We’ve refined it through hands-on growing trials and careful testing, selecting a blend that delivers reliable moisture management, steady nutrition, and the kind of structure roots love.
It’s a premium, Irish-produced compost made with 100% screened and blended Irish sphagnum peat, sourced from responsibly managed peatlands, with no green waste or wood fibre fillers. To support strong, healthy growth, we’ve included a balanced fertiliser blend with essential nutrients — Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium — plus key micro-nutrients including Magnesium, Calcium, Manganese, Iron and Zinc. Humic and Fulvic Acids help improve nutrient availability and encourage root development, while the pH is adjusted to optimise uptake across a wide range of plants.
For consistent results through the growing season, we’ve also added natural Irish seaweed extract and a polymer-based water-retaining granule to help hold moisture at the root zone. A wetting agent is incorporated during manufacture to support even hydration throughout the compost.
Ideal for: pots, containers, hanging baskets, beds and borders, and general planting.
Please note: not suitable for ericaceous (lime-hating) plants. Water regularly and don’t allow compost to dry out completely.
