Description
The foliage of Acer shirasawanum ‘Jordan’ starts a pretty orange-yellow colour, brightening to yellow-green and then turning a dramatic red in late summer and autumn. The lime coloured summer foliage is often supplemented by contrasting small red seed heads. This is a beautiful Acer but a temperamental one so do make sure you not only look after it very well but also do expect that it might not grow well for a couple of years and bare with it, your efforts will be rewarded – it isn’t extremely rare for no reason!
Unlike many Japanese Maples, Acer shirasawanum ‘Jordan’ can tolerate full sun, it has a wonderfully bushy habit albeit slow growing initially so ideal for small areas. Eventual height and spread of around 4 x 3 metres in 25-30 years.
This is always a highly sought after tree that we are delighted to be able to offer to you from time to time – we don’t offer guarantees with this tree due to its highly temperamental nature , you take your chances with it – hopefully it will reward you well.
