1. On-Site Garden Visit

Our experienced designer visits your home to:

• Assess your space, light conditions, soil quality, and drainage
• Understand how you use (or want to use) your garden
• Discuss your style preferences, budget, and timeline
• Take detailed measurements and photographs
• Identify any challenges like screening needs, problem areas, or existing features to preserve

Duration: 60 minutes.   Scheduled within: 7 days of booking

2. Comprehensive Written Design Brief

Within 10 days of your consultation, you’ll receive a detailed written design that includes:

Layout Recommendations

• Suggested garden zones (entertaining, planting, lawn, pathways)
• Practical solutions for drainage, screening, and access
• Ideas for focal points, seating areas, and garden features

Detailed Planting Scheme

• Itemised plant list with common and botanical names
• Sizes, quantities, and individual pricing from our nursery
• Seasonal interest guide (what blooms when)
• Maintenance requirements for each plant
• Planting positions and spacing recommendations

Materials & Features Guidance

• Paving, edging, walls and pathway suggestions
• Recommendations for garden structures, fencing  including pergolas, raised beds, etc.
• Lighting ideas to enhance evening ambiance
• Water feature options if desired
• Advice and recommendations on  garden art and sculpture to enhance your garden space with garden furniture options too.
• Pots, planters and vessels to bring the whole space together

3. Nursery Shopping Support

Your consultation includes:

• Direct access to our 65-acre nursery with mature trees, specimen plants, and rare varieties
• Priority plant reservation – we’ll hold your specified plants while you finalise your plans
• Nursery walkthrough to see your plants in person, decide on colourways and stone options for your completed garden

4. Ongoing Email Support

After receiving your design brief, you’ll have:

• email support for questions about implementation
• Access to our trusted contractors and partners where needed (stonemasons, paving, electrical, etc.)

What Happens After You Book?

Step 1: Confirmation & Scheduling Our team will contact you to schedule your on-site visit at a time that suits you.

Step 2: Pre-Visit Information We ask you to put together some visuals or a Pinterest board to help us understand your vision, lifestyle, and must-haves for when we arrive.

Step 3: On-Site ConsultationOur designer visits your garden for a detailed assessment and creative discussion (One Hour).

Step 4: Design DevelopmentWe create your own bespoke written design brief, tailored to your space, budget, and our Irish climate. We do design overseas too and we treat each climate and the changing climate of the location individually, for holiday homes and overseas properties please contact us to discuss your plans and timelines.

Step 5: Design DeliveryWithin 10 days, you’ll receive your comprehensive design document via email, ready to bring to life.

Step 6: Implementation (Your Way)You’re in control! Manage the project yourself, or book your  planting and installation dates to reveal your perfect garden.

How long does the consultation take?  The on-site visit is 60-90 minutes. You’ll receive your written design brief within 10 days.

Do I have to buy plants from Caragh Nurseries?Not at all! Your design brief is yours to use however you wish. That said, we offer competitive pricing, premium quality, and the convenience of knowing exactly which plants we’ve specified are in stock.

Can I upgrade to the full design and planning service later?Absolutely. If you decide you’d like scaled drawings, mood boards, and full project management, we’ll credit your €295 consultation fee toward the Complete Garden Design & Planning service.

What if I only need help with one area of my garden?No problem. We tailor the consultation to your needs—whether it’s a full garden redesign or just a tricky border or screening solution.

Do you work outside of Kildare?Yes! We design gardens across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Travel fees may apply for locations outside of Ireland’s  standard service area (we’ll confirm this when you book).

What if I don’t like the design suggestions? We base our recommendations on your input during the consultation, but if something doesn’t feel right, we’re happy to discuss adjustments.

Can I bring photos or inspiration images to the consultation?Absolutely! Bring Pinterest boards, magazine clippings, or photos of gardens you love. It helps us understand your style and preferences.

Do you offer payment plans?The €295 consultation fee is payable upfront when you book. For larger projects (planting, build services), we can structure phased payments.
