How to Create a Bloom-Worthy Garden at Home

Every year, Bord Bia Bloom leaves thousands of visitors inspired, and perhaps just a little ambitious, about what could be possible in their own gardens. From beautifully layered planting to peaceful seating areas and clever use of space, it is impossible to walk around Bloom without coming home full of ideas.

But one of the nicest things about this year’s show is that many of the gardens feel more achievable than ever before.

The Rise of More Achievable Show Gardens

One garden in particular that caught our attention was the wonderfully practical I Can Create That Garden with Q102, which deservedly took home a Gold Medal this year. Designed specifically to show visitors that good garden design does not have to feel intimidating or out of reach, the garden focuses on realistic planting, clever layout ideas and achievable inspiration for everyday homes.

And honestly, that is exactly what good garden design should do.

Some standout plants featured in this garden are all available here on the nursery, let me link some of these below for you:

Small Changes That Make a Big Difference

Creating a beautiful garden at home is not about copying a show garden plant for plant or spending a fortune overnight. The best gardens are the ones that work for your lifestyle, your home and the amount of time you realistically have to enjoy and maintain them.

Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference. A new seating area can completely transform how you use your garden. We have a wide range of options from our in house outdoor furniture brand, Finn & Elder.

Better structure and planting can create year-round interest. Even introducing layers of pollinator-friendly planting like lavender, ornamental grasses or a simple focal point can help a garden feel calmer, softer and more cohesive.

At Bloom this year, there has also been a noticeable shift towards gardens that feel more liveable and personal. We are seeing less perfection and more personality — gardens designed not just to impress for five days, but to genuinely be enjoyed every day.

That is something we strongly believe in here at Caragh Nurseries Garden Design Service too.
