As we complete another hotel garden and are just on the clean and tidy up stage as if we were never there and prepare to take a few snaps of the completed project which is a restaurant terrace with an array of planters in both fibreglass and hardwood in an exclusive hotel in Co Wicklow. This is the third stage of planting at this hotel over the last few weeks and we are lucky enough to be involved in the gardens of some fabulous hotels, especially more recently.
We have always had a strong working relationship with some of our local hotels but in the last 5 years we have, as one broadsheet wrote, become the go-to place for hoteliers for beautiful gardens. That is some recommendation and we are delighted and humbled at the same time by this.
Our real landmark hotel garden was the Galgorm Hotel & Spa Resort in Ballymena, we were given a brief, they were creating the largest outdoor Spa in the UK and Ireland and wanted to blend in with the setting on the side of a beautiful river in open countryside but make the place look glamorous, established and create screening and privacy too. So we jumped at the challenge and put a design in place, sourced some of the amazingly mature trees that we didn’t have stock of at that time and presented this to the owners of the Resort, a few tweaks here and there and we got the go-ahead. The Spa Garden was born and is still looking as we had originally planned and envisaged it. From there more gardens, the Keadeen Hotel, which was an honour just to be asked, the owner has created stunning gardens, ones that were well known for being her pride and joy, a real plantswoman who even creates all her own cut flower arrangements from her gardens and takes such pride in her gardens so yes honour indeed but we created a new entrance and then a courtyard garden in the hotel as well as smaller areas around the hotel.
More Gardens at Killashee hotel which was a hotel we have built several gardens for over the years, we love to work with their gardener Tony who has been with Killashee so long he is really part of the furniture. In between all these we have been asked to work on smaller projects, dressing up hotels, especially in Dublin where outdoor space is limited, dressing up of entrances and smaller outdoor spaces has to be just right and so we were becoming the place to do this, hotels like the The Conrad who asked us to create a beautiful welcome in their city centre hotel.
Another hotel project we worked on was the Lyrath Estate, a stunning estate and hotel set in beautiful Kilkenny countryside and the hotel again asked us create something special, each of these hotels trusting us to use our expertise to design, supply and plant gardens for them, using lots of our planters and pots in many of them and creating something that makes them stand out, something that they and their customers will love.
More garden in The Galgorm, the place was so popular that they needed more gardens so we set about creating the relaxation Garden, still having Spa facilities but in a quieter, more relaxed setting. Assisting with the planting of their golf course and then creating gardens around all their cottages.
The Westgrove in Clane was another client who trusted how we were going to make this town centre hotel garden into a unique oasis and we did and they love it, I believe hotel bookings are significantly increased and the hotel have put this down to the changes in the garden.
Several more city centre hotels and some hotels further afield, Roscommon, Mayo and Cavan and here we are just competing the next hotel garden with we will bring you completed images and planting designs over the coming weeks but we sit back at this state and feel honoured to be involved in these very public gardens.
