Description
Sorbus ‘Red Tip’ is a variety of ornamental Rowan that offers interest and variation with every season. It has an upright, spreading habit, but is considered a small tree as it grows to a height of about 6m. Like other Sorbus, clusters of small white flowers are produced in May/June, which will attract bees and many other beneficial pollinating insects. Berries will develop over the summer, going from a salmon-pink in colour and finishing orange-yellow. The delicate green foliage will also turn to colours of fiery reds to oranges as the autumn progresses. The berries will remain on the tree for some time after the leaves have fallen to hold a bit of interest into the winter months, as the birds may then pick away at them.
