Description

A species of Japanese holly native to eastern China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree growing, if left unclipped  to a height of 3-5 m tall, with a trunk diameter up to 20 cm. The leaves are glossy dark green, small, 10-30 mm long and 10-17 mm broad, with a crenate margin, sometimes spiny.

In the spring, tiny white flowers appear at the base of the leaves of the previous year’s growth. Berries will only follow if both male and female plants are present.

These ones have been created into masterpieces of bonsai form and look magnificent as focal pieces of art in the garden, do ask for individual images as each one has its own individual shape and characteristics.
