Description

Commonly known as Sea Holly, this thistle-like perennial produces upright, branching stems of thimble-sized, steel-blue flowers surrounded by spiny bracts. From July to early autumn, these long-lasting blooms provide a valuable source of nectar for butterflies and pollinating insects. Eryngium planum makes fabulous gap filler for the middle of herbaceous borders, where it will happily mingle with other perennials. Perfect for sunny borders, including coastal locations, or planted in wildlife areas and cut flower gardens.
