Description :
A variant of Europe’s only native palm, reputedly named after the Vulcano island off Sicily where it was reportedly found growing. As the regular Chamaerops humilis it is one of the most cold-tolerant species of palm, withstanding heavy frosts making it very popular throughout Northern Europe.
Chamaerops humilis ‘Vulcano’ prefers full sun in a well drained position, but seems to adapt well to shade and damp conditions so long as the soil is not prone to waterlogging.
It is probably the best palm to grow in a container where it can survive drought, wind, cold, heat and long periods of neglect!
