Description
A herbaceous perennial, ‘Astary Red’ is stocky and branching, with glossy, dark-green, ferny leaves. Flower stems rise above the leaves in summer, topped by flower spikes. Tiny, closely packed flowers clothe the spikes, transforming them into feathery plumes. The flowers can persist for weeks, even after they dry. Like most astilbes, ‘Astary Red’ prefers, partial sun to partial shade and well-drained soil that is steadily moist. It blooms well in containers, making it a good choice for summer colour on a deck or patio.
