Description

Alpine asters are wonderful plants for rock gardens. They have weak, rosette-like growth and are about 20 cm high. Their leaves are slightly rough and hairy; they are oval-shaped and dark green. In the late spring from May to June, the blue/violet, ray flowers develop with a yellow centre. These plants love well-drained, nutrient-poor and dry soils in a location with full sun. Asters are ideal for rock gardens, but are also suitable as low-growing perennials for the foreground of a perennial bed. In addition, they can also be used as a border plant or even for grave designs. Sometimes they are also used for container plantings. These colour-intensive spring bloomers fit together well with various low-growing grasses, perennial sage and low-growing pinks.
